Perseus appears as two lines of stars streaming from a point and forming a slanted 'y'. The constellation appears near Andromeda.
Perseus has one especially interesting star: Algol or beta Persei. Algol, which was named "the joker" by the Arabs because of its irresponsible behaviour of changing brightness. This is because it's a binary star. Algol A is a very bright star which is eclipses by a smaller star every 2 days, 20 hours and 49 minutes. Within a period of several hours Algol's apparent magnitude drops in brightness from 2.1 to 3.4 and then returns to full brightness.
Perseus is a participant in various myths already related elsewhere.
