SkyTour - Cepheus

Capricornus Pegasus

Cepheus is an easy to spot circumpolar constellation and a neighbor of Cassiopeia. You shouldn't have too much difficulty finding Cepheus though its stars are not very bright both because of its location and its simple shape: a square with a triangle perched on it.

Delta Cephei is a double star whose brightest component is a yellow superstar. Very often, SkyTour talks about a star's magnitude in which a high number indicates a dim star while a very low (negative) number indicates its brightness. Delta Cephei is a variable star; its brightness varies every 5 days and nine hours.

Cepheus is the husband of nearby Cassiopeia and father of Andromeda.
