The Hubble Space Telescope did not have an easy beginning as problem after problem was revealed: especially a misshapen main mirror. But thanks to corrections over the last few years, it's finally producing the type of images that we always hoped for.
The image of the "Tadpole Galaxy" below was taken by the Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys. The Tadpole galaxy is a magnitude 15 object. It's 280,000 light year tail was created by tidal forces generated by another galaxy which can be seen through of of the tadpole's arms at the upper left part of the photograph.
